Emma Schuster
Emma joined Beacon Academy in the craziness of 2020 as a substitute Science Instructor but fell in love with the community and decided to return permanently. Emma received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and is continuing to pursue her love for science by working towards her Ph.D. in Cancer Biology at Northwestern University. While Emma has been an active scientific researcher for nearly eight years, she has also dedicated her time to teaching and mentorship roles in her communities and recently completed the Teaching Certification Program at the Searle Center for Advanced Teaching and Learning at Northwestern University. In awe of the amazing science that is constantly around us, Emma strongly believes that science is for everyone, and she is excited to bring her unique perspective of being both an active scientist and an active citizen to the students at Beacon Academy. When she is not in the lab or at Beacon Academy, Emma is a musician and enjoys spending time with her puppy.
