Georgette Kelly
Georgette has taught Theatre and French at Beacon Academy since she joined the faculty in 2015. She has lived in Morocco, where she studied Arabic and storytelling, as well as in France, where she taught English to middle school students through the French Ministry of Education. Previously, she has taught at The Chapin School in New York, Concordia Language Villages in Minnesota, and mentored students at Northwestern University in theatre management. In addition to teaching, Georgette is an award-winning playwright whose work has been developed at The Kennedy Center, the National New Play Network, and theaters across the country. She is a resident playwright at Chicago Dramatists, and has a passion for connecting Beacon students with Chicago’s vibrant theatre community through field trips and visiting artists. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Performance Studies from Northwestern University and a Master of Fine Arts in Playwriting from Hunter College.
