Spotlight On...

Declan Chhay-Vickers '22 is a sophomore at Wabash College, majoring in economics with a minor in business. The main factor in his decision to attend was the Wabash alumni network. He feels that Wabash has one of the best alumni networks, and knew that it would be invaluable in trying to break into the investment banking industry.

Q: How did you acclimate to your new surroundings? Have you found people or a place that you can connect with at school?
A: The place that I have found at Wabash that has become like a second home is the Malcolm X Institute of Black Studies. I have made most of my friends on campus through this organization, as well as a true brotherhood. I have also become the treasurer of the organization and have helped grow it to become the largest on-campus student-run organization with over 80 members.

Q: What are you most excited about learning, seeing or doing next?
A: I am most excited to start my internship at the beginning of the summer. I am going to be interning at Stride, a multi-billion dollar publicly traded company with its treasury department. I got this internship through the support of one of the top Wabash alumni, showing just how powerful the alumni network is.

Q: When you reflect on your time at Beacon, what stands out the most and how does this impact you today?
A: The thing that stands out most is the internship I had through the Experiential Studies class. I learned so much through this opportunity, and it helped foster my interest in the financial industry. The internship also helped jumpstart my resume, which helped me secure the position I have this summer.
