Make Stuff: Build, Paint, Draw, Design
This is a hands-on maker class. Students will have the opportunity to build, paint, draw and design. We will work with traditional hand tools such as a hammer and saw, and/or safely operate power tools of various functions. Put those screens and the digital world on pause, and step into the Arts Annex to MAKE STUFF. Max: 8 Students
Taught by Beacon Arts Instructor Jake Rosenbluth
Conversational Spanish
Speaking a new language can be daunting, so wouldn't it be great to get some practice in a safe, low-stakes, no judgement kind of environment where the focus is on getting your message across rather than on memorizing verb conjugations?! We will simulate different real-world situations and use some topical and cultural themes to have fun discussions and debates. This class is great for anyone who has had some formal Spanish class experience and is interested in sharpening their verbal skills.
Max: 10 Students

Cooking for Everyone
Would you like to learn some easy, fun and delicious recipes? Whether you're just starting out as a cook or whether you've been experimenting with recipes for your family and friends, this class is for you. We'll work on some basic techniques and gain some experience with every stage of cooking - choosing (or creating) a recipe, shopping and gathering ingredients, putting it all together - and of course, eating! This summer, get ready to become a seasoned chef! Max: 8 Students
Taught by Beacon Social Sciences Instructor Jessie Cheney
Mathematical Problem-Solving (MPS)
Mathematical problem-solving is often confused with “getting the problem right”, but the reality is high-level problem-solving involves dissecting a problem into manageable pieces and offering unique, innovative approaches to arrive at a solution. In this summer course, we will work through problems - both familiar and unfamiliar - to keep students' mathematical abilities sharp, further spark their curiosity, and prepare them for their academic courses in the year ahead. Max: 12 Students
